What sets our study app IU Learn apart from other study tools? The smart application we developed together with students allow you to go with your flow when studying, choose when and where you want to work through scripts and how to improve your performance.

It only takes a few clicks to choose the study programme that suits you. Next, you fill in the online registration form and receive your free iPad in time for starting your studies. It will become your trusted companion for connecting with other students, studying on the go or simply surfing the web. 

How to get your IU iPad

1. Choose a study programme

Our student advisors are happy to help you choose the right study programme and show you how you can easily get previous knowledge recognised – for example from vocational training or professional experience. 

2. Apply online

Once your ready, simply enrol via our online registration form. This is where you let us know whether you would like a free iPad and where you agree to the terms of transfer of use.

3. Start studying with your IU iPad

You will receive your iPad around the time you start your studies. If our external provider doesn’t have the iPad available, there might be a delay in delivery. 

You can use the iPad for free during your studies and can keep it once you graduate.

What you need to participate:

  • You are a resident of the European Union and are enrolling in an online bachelor’s or master’s programme or advanced training programme at IU. 

  • If you don’t live in the EU, you can get a free iPad if you can have it sent to an address within the European Union. You must mention this address when applying. 

  • Participants of the free first semester or company training programmes do not qualify for this benefit. 

Your support at the start and during usage

To facilitate your start at IU with your iPad, we have pre-installed the most important learning and communication tools for you. They include the IU Learn App as well as Outlook and Teams by Microsoft 365. You can find more apps in the app “student” <on demand>. That means that you can install them voluntarily and without an Apple ID.


Please contact us directly in case your iPad gets lost! We can block the device immediately and thus protect your data.
