Advantages of state recognition

State recognition as a social worker or social pedagogue in Germany qualifies you to work in the field of social work. Only with the award of state recognition is professional protection made possible. This also gives you access to special positions, rights and higher pay entitlements. Employers in the public sector, for example, require state recognition.

Among other things, your profile will include knowledge in the areas of organizational and legal sciences, the science of social work, social work methods and professional ethics.

Difference between social worker and social pedagogue

The terms can now be used interchangeably. Social pedagogy is more likely to be seen as a sub-area of social work. The decisive factor is rather the law on the recognition of social workers and social pedagogues, according to which these two professions are treated equally. However, many degree programs have been renamed or newly created in the course of the reform, so there is probably an indirect connection.
